Art Night Venezia 2026 with Vincenzo Profeta

At the heart of the event will be “Viola’s Bibliomanzia”, a performative experience inspired by Profeta’s latest book, Viola. Scritture dal nulla. More than a traditional book presentation, the performance becomes a participatory and immersive ritual in which the book serves as both an oracle and a creative device.

Bibliomanzia is an ancient divinatory practice that consists of opening a text at random and interpreting its content as a symbolic or prophetic response. In Profeta’s vision, this practice is reimagined through a contemporary lens: words become action, the text becomes performance, and the reader is drawn into a collective experience suspended between literature, evocation, and artistic experimentation.

The evening will also feature screenings and spoken-word presentations of “Futurarcaico”, an audiovisual performance that reinterprets Filippo Tommaso Marinetti’s Futurist manifesto Contro Venezia Passatista from a contemporary perspective.

Through lo-fi sound sampling, AI-generated imagery, and references to the theatrical voice of Carmelo Bene, Profeta creates a work that questions the relationship between memory, nostalgia, and contemporaneity. The performance takes shape as a powerful critique of Italian “passatism” and of a static, crystallized vision of culture, transforming Venice into a symbolic battleground between tradition and avant-garde.

The artist’s voice intertwines with fragmented imagery and AI-generated visions, creating a continuous dialogue between human expression and technology, physical presence and digital dimension. Futurarcaico thus becomes an experimental performance where sound poetry, performative art, and cultural criticism converge into an intense and thought-provoking experience.

Alongside Profeta’s performances, visitors will be able to view a selection of works by Angelo Crazyone, an artist whose practice is rooted in street art and contemporary urban culture. His works combine symbols, text, and imagery with strong visual impact, resulting in dynamic and highly recognizable compositions. Through a wide range of techniques, Crazyone creates works characterized by complex geometric forms and a direct, energetic visual language that reflects tensions, contrasts, and a desire to engage with the contemporary world.

With this event, San Polo Art Gallery joins the wider Art Night Venice program by offering a reflection on the contemporary possibilities of artistic language, where visual arts, performative writing, and new technologies intersect.
